Chapter 7 - “The phantom with the broken glasses.”

At dusk, everyone redressed in light cloaks and Rhea and Snowe filled two bags with charms for luck, bandages and gauze, and anything they thought would be helpful against phantoms. Canan and Iain had one of the High Priestesses open the weapon vault within Barina so they could grab a few weapons. It had been a long time since the vault had been opened last, but Esmeralda made a convincing case that her disciples needed to be armed. Magic could easily deal with a phantom on its own, but against a hoard of phantoms, it wouldn’t hurt to have a weapon or two. Iain still had his long sword from the capital and Canan grabbed for her and Rhea two lightweight swords. Since Snowe didn’t know how to use a sword, Rhea found him an old staff he could at least swing and hit phantoms with.

Yosemite Falls & El Capitan

Length: 19 miles (depending on detours)

History:  Carved by glaciers, created with volcano and faults.

Notes: I never anticipated on going to El Capitan, since I am usually very slow climbing Yosemite Falls. I also skipped sleeping. Somehow, I ended up blazing through the trail and arrived to the top of the entire falls in about two or two-and-a-half hours, so I just took an additional ten or twelve miles to venture further in to El Captain.

I was so exhausted, at the end of the day I saw a piece of brown mammal behind a tree. I tried to ask for direction but it was a deer.

XBOX One or XBOX DONE? What happens when the XBOX Two comes out in 2021?

Did you know?

The Atari 2600 was released in October 1977. No, that’s not a typo. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The NES was released in October 1985 (NYC) /February 1986 (LA) /June 1986 (nationwide). It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The SNES was released in August 1991. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The PlayStation was released in September 1995. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The N64 was released in September 1996. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The PS2 was released in October 2000. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The XBOX was released sometime in 2001. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The GameCube was released in November 2001. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The XBOX 360 was released in November 2005. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no publisher DRM (up to individual developers). In 20 years it should still be possible to play.

The Wii was released in November 2006. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and has no DRM. It is still possible to play.

The PS3 was released in November 2006. It doesn’t require online connection, it has tons of games, and limited DRM, usually up to developers.  In 20 years it should still be possible to play.

The Wii U was released in November 2012. It doesn’t require online connection, it likely will have tons of games, and has no DRM. In 20 years it should still be possible to play.

The PS4 is slated to release in holiday 2013. It won’t require online connection, it likely will have tons of games, and limited DRM, like the PS3,  In 20 years it should still be possible to play.

All is well and good so far, plus all the systems up to this point that weren’t listed can function aside from online games, if any.

The XBONE is slated to release in holiday 2013. It requires online connection. It has DRM. It has spyware (Kinect 2). Microsoft even stated that users that don’t have online should stick with the 360. Games require a user fee, likely full price for used games. Finally, you are effectively renting the right to play XBONE games. When the XBONE is replaced with its successor or if Microsoft exits the market, all the servers go down and you can’t play anything anymore. Assuming you can find a working cabinet, it is still possible to play PONG from 1972. It won’t be possible to play XBONE games in 2054, I assure you.

“Are you feeling better?” Esmeralda asked as she glanced over the scars still present on Snowe’s back.

“They don’t hurt anymore,” Snowe replied. “Even if I don’t sleep well.” He prepared to feel the cold salve against his back, but Esmeralda moved in front of him again and sat before him. She had a smile on her lips.
